Recently, the Sweetwater Fire Department received a new mural for the Fire Chief’s office. Talent runs deep in the Madden family. Grant Madden explains: “Greg Madden, my brother wanted to do something nice for me. He is a chiropractor in Saldatna, Alaska. It took him about a month to paint it. He put it on a frame in his office and painted it with latex house paint onto a painting drop cloth made from canvas. It is roughly 8 feet tall by 15 feet long. He spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out how to get it down to Texas. Oddly enough, he found an acquaintance that was coming to Brownwood Texas from Saldatna to have his corn roaster trailer repaired. Greg put the 10 foot long homemade box that was seriously wrapped in plastic on the trailer that was headed to Texas. It took over a week to make it down, but made it down without any serious issues.
All the artwork in my office is from family. My middle brother drew the tarpon and turkey that adorn the East wall as well as he took the picture of the Corpus Christi skyline from the jetties.”
