Sweetwater JV girls also off to 3-0 start

Sweetwater High School has a pair of girls basket-ball teams who are off to 3-0 starts this season. The JV girls are also 3-0 after Tuesday’s 32-17 victory at Breckenridge.Larissa Locklar paced the Lady Mustangs with 11 points. Also scoring were Shaneese Brown and Syd-ney Vanderbilt with six, Mikki Reschman with three, Maddie Jones and Taylor McPherson with two and Elise Lawrence and Karlee Murff with one point.Sweetwater led 11-4, 17-6 and 27-10 at the quarter breaks. Sweetwater’s varsity and JV girls will play at Abilene High on Friday.Highland JV girls winHighland’s JV girls beat Robert Lee, 29-14, on Tues-day. Madison Moseley led Highland to the victory by scoring 17 points.Also scoring were Mia Herrera with seven points, Tarin Weldy with three and Kaylee Martin with two.Four playoffs setFour high school football playoff games will be played in Nolan County starting Friday, with three of the games in Sweetwater and the other in Blackwell. On Friday, Muleshoe plays Godley in a Class 2A, Division I playoff at 7:30 p.m. in Sweetwater. Ira meets Water Valley in a six-man playoff at the same time in Blackwell.On Saturday, two afternoon games are scheduled to be played in Sweetwa-ter. McCamey vs. Munday will kick off the Class 1A, Division II area playoff doubleheader at Mustang Bowl at 1 p.m., followed by Windthorst vs. Iraan at 5.Blackwell JH is district runnerupBlackwell’s junior high football team finished as the district runnerup, defeating Novice and Panther Creek and losing to Paint Rock.
