Sweetwater to participate in National Day of Prayer

As American troops remain in harm’s way, the economy continues to waiver, and upcoming elections quickly approach, citizens of the United States are preparing to exercise their freedom to gather, worship, and pray. Millions will answer the call to prayer on Thursday, May 3, in observance of the 61st annual National Day of Prayer. Organized events will be held in thousands of public venues where intercession will be made for America and its leadership. This year’s theme, “One Nation Under God,” is based on Psalm 33:12 which reminds people that “blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” National Day of Prayer (NDP) Task Force Chairman Shirley Dobson, wife of Focus on the Family founder Dr. James Dobson, said, “At this perilous and uncertain juncture in our country’s history, it is critical that we remain in prayer. The American people continue to be plagued with challenges that defy simple answers and our hope lies in humbly seeking the Almighty’s guidance, protection and blessing – not only on the National Day of Prayer, but throughout the year.”Here in Sweetwater, the Ministerial Alliance will host a National Day of Prayer event at the Sweetwater Prayer Center. The Prayer Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with seven prayer stations available, each with a specific focus of prayer for our nation: government, military, media, business, education, church and family. This year, local artists and photographers have contributed artwork for the Sweetwater prayer event. The art gallery is intended to inspire prayer for each of the seven stations. The artists and photographers whose work will be exhibited are Karyn Carbone, Shelby Graves, Suzan Kennedy, Evelyn Long, Jay Neal, Loran Rule, Keegan von Atzigen and Rhonda Wilks.Everyone is welcome to attend the National Day of Prayer event at the Sweetwater Prayer Center, located at 1418 Hailey Street.
