Taylor Co. Republicans Ask Mcalister To Resign As Precinct Chairman Over ‘Racist’ Comments

Staff Writer

ABILENE, Texas (KTXS) — The Taylor County Republican Party’s Executive Committee has asked for embattled Abilene City Councilman Kyle McAlister to step down as the Precinct Chairman of voting precinct 402.
It’s the latest round of backlash McAlister is facing for dozens of controversial comments about Hispanics that McAlister posted on Facebook.
The posts have been called racist by LULAC and Hispanic community leaders have asked McAlister to resign his council seat.
The Taylor County Republican Party released the following statement after Monday’s meeting:
The Republican Party has a long history of pursuing and when necessary fighting for equality for all Americans regardless of race or ethnicity. This proud tradition traces all the way back to Abraham Lincoln.
