According to a press release, there are two armed and dangerous subjects on the loose in the area. At around 11:12 a.m. Friday, in what normally would have been a routine traffic stop by a Texas Trooper, a man driving a red Dodge Journey, with a Texas license plate of TX JDK 1031, refused to pull over. The driver, described as an Hispanic male, around 5’6”, bald with a mustache and tattoos on his neck and wearing a red-striped shirt, accelerated, driving recklessly to evade detention by law enforcement through Nolan and Taylor Counties , causing a high speed pursuit.
One Hispanic male subject wearing white shirt and blue jeans bailed out of the vehicle when it slowed on Gulfton Road in Sweetwater. The vehicle headed then east on IH-20 and into Abilene. Troopers lost sight of the vehicle on South 7th and Don Juan Street in Abilene. A stolen firearm was recovered having been dumped out of the vehicle in Sweetwater.
