West Texas Rodeo Association to rope in family fun at Coliseum this weekend

Senior Head Writer

It’s time to saddle up and head on over to the Nolan County Coliseum because The West Texas Rodeo Association is back in town this weekend. Move-ins begin Friday afternoon after workers prepare the arena, Coliseum, stalls and the barn for rodeo-goers and cowboys alike. The WTRA works to create a consistent and family-friendly experience for competitors, workers in the rodeo and for the audience watching from the sidelines. The events began Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. and continued throughout the afternoon. This year, the events will not switch arenas. All speed events & team roping will be in the new covered pen and all calf roping will be in the coliseum both days. The only exceptions was for rodeo #3(Saturday, June 9th) and the 2nd round of the finals (Saturday, July 21st) the NCC will be using the old covered pen for speed events due to the 40+team roping in the new covered pen those dates. All team roping will be completed Saturday afternoon. A list of WTRA 2018 Order of Events can be found in print or online edition.
