Transportation Secretary Elizabeth Chao, GOP leader and wife of Senate majority Leader, Mitch McConnell resigned from her position Thursday in the Trump Administration. Her resignation came as a response to the President's handling of the deadly riot that took place at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday. Chao released a statement on Twitter saying:"It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the U.S. Department of Transportation," but admitted that she had been "deeply troubled" by the president's handling off the crisis.

Chao is the first Cabinet member to resign over the melee.
