U.S. Senator John Cornyn was declared winner over Democratic opponent M.J. Hegar with 88 percent of the precincts reporting. Cornyn took 53.7 percent of the vote, compared to hegar's 43.7 percent.

State Representative Stan Lambert (District 71) was re-elected to a third term in there texts House, garnering 78 percent of votes cast over his opponent, Abilene activist, Sam Hatton.

Congressman Jodey Arrington (District 19) has been re-elected to office for a third term, easily beating out his opponent Democrat Tom Watson, an Abilene lawyer. He also beat Libertarian candidate Joe Burnes.

The City of Sweetwater will hold a public meet and greet event to give the community an opportunity to meet the six police chief candidates. The event will take place on Thursday, November 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex.
