SHS Class of 1971 Enjoys 4-Day 50th Reunion Celebration

The Class of 1971, the first freshman class to enter the halls of the new Sweetwater High School in 1967, celebrated their 50th Reunion this past weekend here in Sweetwater.  Participation was overwhelming, with 99 classmates, spouses and guests in attendance.  The class had 196 graduates listed as receiving diplomas in 1971, the first class to go four full years of high school in the new building.

The class started coming together Thursday afternoon at Argos Coffeehouse for a time to visit and pick up the beautiful t-shirts designed by classmate Don Ray Hays and his wife, Gloria.  Thanks to our class president, Rod Wetsel, for the use of the Argos location.

Headquartered out of The Barnett Barn on Elm Street, the classmates on Friday renewed old friendships and created new ones at the Exes Tea, Pep Rally and on the class float in the Homecoming Parade.  Our thanks to Craig Diddle, Steve Mahaffey, Pat Tucker and Larry Smith for providing the trailer, hay and transportation.  What fun! Some attended the football game on Friday night, then joined others at The Barn afterwards for a great time of reminiscing...
