Former Sweetwater High School athlete Kobe Clark recently completed his fourth football season at Abilene Christian University by catching a team-high 64 passes for 741 yards and eight touchdowns. Clark ranks No. 3 in career catches with a total of 204 receptions at ACU.

Sweetwater and Highland both lost their boys basketball season openers on Tuesday, but the Highland and Roscoe girls both prevailed in their games.

The Highland girls were the only area basketball team to win over the weekend, beating Jayton 34-29 to improve their record to 2-0.

While the offense ended up having another big night, turnovers created by the defense also had a big role in Sweetwater's 50-15 bi-district victory over Borger in the teams' playoff game at Lubbock Cooper High School.

Sweetwater plays 3-7 Borger at 7 p.m. Friday to begin the playoffs, and despite having an opposite (7-3) season record to their opponent the Mustangs know they can't take the Bulldogs lightly.

Roscoe (8-1, 3-0) demolished Lockney 46-6 on Friday as the Plowboys clinched the No. 1 seed in District 5-2A, Division II. Roscoe can clinch the outright District 5-2A, Division II championship by beating Hamlin this Friday.

Sweetwater lost its District 3-4A volleyball finale on Tuesday in three games to Big Spring by scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-19. The Lady Mustangs will now go to Graham for a playoff warmup game at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Sweetwater lost to first-place Snyder 3-0 by scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-22 in District 3-4A volleyball action Saturday. The Lady Mustangs, the No. 4 team in the district, are home to face Big Spring starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday to wrap up the regular season before starting the playoffs next week.
